The “Accademia Italiana del Bandoneon”,  in collaboration with the teacher Veronica Maccioni, proposes and finances — in line with its mission, aimed at the democratic diffusion of music — two bandoneon workshops, with an experimental character, aimed at primary public schools in the provinces of Cagliari and South Sardinia, with the important goal of spread the instrument among children. Important and fundamental support for the project comes from the Bandonion & Concertinafabrik Klingenthal A.A. which has made available a wonderful bandoneon specially designed for children.

“Bandoneonito — The bandoneon for children" is proposed as the starting point of a project which, in perspective, aims at the creation of new young bandoneonists as an important engine for the continuation and future development of the bandoneon.

Gennevilliers conservatory

For some years now, bandoneon pedagogy for children has been fortunate to benefit from new instruments that are adapted in size to the children. Thanks to the high quality instruments, not only is the posture ideal, but the children also experience working with high quality sounds from an early age.

2021

This year for the first time we were able to support the festival with our association Bandonion4Friends e.V. and our company Bandonionfabrik Klingenthal GmbH.

It is a milestone that French, Italian and Dutch music academies from three European countries participated in this 5th festival and that bandoneon players from all over the world were represented.

A highlight this year was that Maestro Juan José Mosalini and Daniel Binelli played together for the first time in decades and even conducted a master class.

On 22 October, renowned performers from European tango conservatories and Maestro Juan José Mosalini, Daniel Binelli, Polly Ferman, Juanjo Mosalini, Yvonne Hahn, Fabio Furia and Santiago Cimadevilla performed together. The concert hall was full of enthusiastic spectators for this historic performance.

On the 24th, the legend of the bandoneon, Juan José Mosalini, played together with his son, Juanjo Mosalini, head of the bandoneon department of the Paris Conservatoire.

Yvonne Hahn teaches at the Avignon Conservatoire. Here, there was a bandoneon lecture for 18 children learning the bandoneon. A very big step for the future of the instrument.

Also through the AA Bandonionfabrik Klingenthal, workshops were offered on these days by our bandoneon maker, Heeju Oh. Here, the children were explained in a playful way how an instrument is made, what it looks like from the inside and which details make up the special sound in the end.

The children performed plays and performances for bandoneon, prepared jointly by Yvonne Hahn and Juanjo Mosalini. This was a premiere worldwide.

The children received great applause from the audience for their drawings and their funny and interesting stories.

A big thank you to our partner Yvonne Hahn, who prepared and planned all these great days. A huge task.

Our thanks also go to the more than 40 bandoneonists and tango musicians from all over the world.

An important international festival for the bandonion and the people who have been fighting for so many years to give the instrument the place in the world it deserves. We are on the right track.

A very special thank you also to the Zevens Foundation Kleve, which supports us so much with our association.

"Bandoneons in children's size are offered by only a handful of manufacturers worldwide. Such instruments are not available on the Swiss market so far. Thanks to the generous support of the Bandonion4Friends eV. association and the bandonion factory Klingenthal, bandoneon enthusiastic children in Switzerland can now finally get their hands on suitable instruments for bandoneon lessons.

The new children's bandoneons from Klingenthal are also unique because they have two horns (children's bandoneons were usually built with one horn). So the kids get the full, typical sound of the "big" bandoneon despite the reduced size of the body.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for everything you do for the young bandoneon community in Europe!"
